VIDEO: Rice's Luke Turner reminds us college sports are amazing
Lost in the College Football Playoff ranking debate, and the discussions about whether to fire a coach following a disappointing season, is the reason college sports are truly incredible.
Rice running back Luke Turner did his best after Saturday's game against Charlotte to remind us why collegiate athletics are about more than conference championships and improving one's draft stock, offering up this moving expression of gratitude toward his school and coach David Bailiff.
Turner was a state champion quarterback in high school, but after breaking his leg during his senior season, Rice was the only FBS school to offer him a scholarship.
The Owls may have struggled to a 5-7 record this season, but moments like this show that a coach should be judged on much more than wins and losses.
