Nebraska's Cethan Carter to miss Saturday's game due to suspension
Nebraska tight end Cethan Carter will miss his second consecutive game this week because of an ongoing suspension for violating team rules, coach Mike Riley announced Thursday.
Riley said Carter, who was one of the five players who sat out the team's season opening 33-28 loss to BYU, is "hopefully the last suspended player" for this 2015 season, reports Brian Christopherson of the Lincoln Journal Star.
The suspension further depletes an already thin Cornhuskers' tight end corps, which is already without David Sutton, who sustained a severe ankle sprain in last Saturday's game.
Meanwhile, Trey Foster could also miss the upcoming contest against South Alabama because of an ankle injury sustained last weekend.
"We are thin," Riley conceded. "Sam Cotton has done a nice job this week getting ready to play. Andy Janovich is that pseudo H-back/fullback, so it gives us a little versatility."
