Edward Oliver, a five-star member of the recruiting class of 2016, has committed to Houston, according to Gerry Hamilton of ESPN.
A 6-foot-2, 283-pound defensive tackle, Oliver chose Houston - his hometown team - over LSU, Texas A&M, and Texas, among other options. He is ranked as the No. 6 player in the 2016 class by ESPN.
As Hamilton notes, among the 99 prospects who've received a five-star rating by ESPN, Oliver is the first to commit to a non-Power 5 university.
Oliver is the third commitment for new Houston coach Tom Herman, joining three-star quarterback Bowman Sells and safety Patrick Rosette.
