Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota won the Maxwell Award on Thursday.
The award recognizes college football's player of the year.
He beat out Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon and Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott for the honor.
Mariota, a junior, finished the year with 3,783 yards passing with 38 touchdowns with just a pair of interceptions. He also had 669 yards rushing with 14 more scores.
He becomes the first Ducks player to win the honor, and the first Pac-12 player to win it since Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck in 2011.
Alabama's A.J. McCarron won the award last year.
