Surgery to keep Miami's Ereck Flowers out at least 1 game
Miami left tackle Ereck Flowers will miss at least Saturday's contest against North Carolina after a surgical procedure on his knee, an injury he suffered late in Miami's 30-6 win over Virginia Tech last Thursday.
Hurricanes coach Al Golden told the South Florida Sun Sentinel's Christy Cabrera Chirinos that he's still awaiting news on Flowers’ long-term prognosis.
Flowers, a hometown junior, and the rest the Hurricanes’ offensive line helped Miami rush for a season-high 364 yards against the Hokies.
Unfortunately, it has lost three of its top contributors in recent weeks with right tackles Taylor Gadbois and KC McDermott having both suffered season-ending injuries in the Hurricanes' 22-10 win over Duke.
Miami defensive coordinator James Coley said Jon Feliciano will play at left tackle while Trevor Darling and Sunny Odogwu will see time at right tackle. Hunter Wells could also see increased playing time.
Miami has compiled a record of 5-3 (2-2). Despite the offensive line problems, the Hurricanes offense has helped junior running back Duke Johnson rush for 1,036 yards and seven touchdowns in eight games.
