Report: Incoming 5-star Oklahoma running back involved in 'serious altercation'
Oklahoma incoming freshman running back Joe Mixon was involved in a "serious altercation" while celebrating his 18th birthday Thursday night/Friday morning, according to a report from SoonerScoop.com.
The Norman Police Department was summoned to an incident at Pickleman's Gourmet Cafe just prior to 3 a.m. Friday morning for what is being reported as aggravated assault and battery. No charges have been filed however, as the police want to review security footage of the incident.
A spokesperson for Oklahoma issued the following statement to Sooner Scoop: "We are aware of the matter and it is under internal review."
Mixon was one of the highest-touted recruits in the nation this past year and a key piece of the Sooners' 2014 recruiting class. He was rated as the top running back and the No. 8 overall prospect in the nation by Rivals.com.
