Notre Dame NT Nix out for season after surgery for torn meniscus
Notre Dame nose tackle Louis Nix returned to the lineup against Pittsburgh after missing the Fighting Irish's previous two games with tendinitis and a meniscus tear in his knee. He seemed to fair well against the Panthers, but decided on surgery to fix his injury.

This could mean Nix has played his final game in Notre Dame. Nix is a junior and a likely first-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft. However, he has yet to make a decision on whether or not he will return to South Bend.
On the season Nix had 27 tackles in eight games. Kona Schwenke and Jarron Jones are expected to split time filling in for Nix.
