Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson was unable to finish his team's 38-3 loss to Indiana during the College Football Playoff quarterfinal matchup in the Rose Bowl on Thursday.

Simpson came out of the game after Alabama fell behind 24-0 in the third quarter. He had been battling an elbow injury and appeared to be hurt on a hit near the end of the first half.

Austin Mack entered the game to replace Simpson and led a scoring drive to cut the deficit to 24-3. He completed four of his five pass attempts for 46 yards on his opening series. However, Mack was unable to muster another scoring drive after that.

Simpson completed 12 of his 16 passes but only totaled 67 yards for a measly 4.2 yards per attempt.
