Day declares Smith, Tate day-to-day after WRs sat out vs. Rutgers
Ohio State won comfortably Saturday versus Rutgers, but there's still concern among Buckeyes fans over the absence of star receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate.
The dynamic duo was on the sideline in street clothes during the 42-9 victory, a potentially troubling sight with the team's matchup against Michigan just a week away.
"They are day-to-day, and the staff and those guys are working really hard to get ready to play next week," head coach Ryan Day said postgame, according to Fox Sports.
Smith sat out the second half of last week's win over UCLA with what appeared to be a lower-body issue. Tate hasn't played since grabbing five catches for 124 yards and a touchdown in a Nov. 1 victory versus Penn State.
While Ohio State still has plenty of offensive firepower without the pair of pass-catchers, Smith and Tate will likely be needed for the challenging road trip to Ann Arbor. The two have combined for 108 catches, 1,613 yards and 17 touchdowns on the season.
