Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key showed commitment to the Yellow Jackets during a viral interview Thursday, dismissing rumors linking him to vacant jobs.

"Slice me open and see what colors I bleed," Key said when asked about his future.

Key has helped Georgia Tech, his alma mater, improve significantly over the last three seasons. The Yellow Jackets, who won seven games in each of the past two campaigns, are 8-1 in 2025. They also have the second-best record in the ACC at 5-1 and sit 17th in the initial College Football Playoff rankings.

Meanwhile, several major football programs - including LSU, Florida, Auburn, and Penn State - are looking for new head coaches after making in-season changes on the sideline. Key has repeatedly been brought up as a potential candidate for those jobs.

"It's flattering, but not for me - for this program," the 47-year-old said. "Since I was named the head coach here, outside of the time with my family, every waking second of my life has gone toward building this program to get to the point that it is right now."

Coming off its first loss of the season, Georgia Tech enters a bye week and will travel to play Boston College on Nov. 15.

Key, an Alabama native, played guard for the Yellow Jackets between 1997-2000 and began his coaching career as a Georgia Tech assistant in 2001. He returned to the school as the offensive line coach in 2019 before being named interim head coach during the 2022 campaign.

Other strong coaching candidates this cycle, such as Indiana's Curt Cignetti and Nebraska's Matt Rhule, recently signed contract extensions to effectively take their names off the market.
