Washington hired Arizona's Jedd Fisch as its new head coach, the team announced Sunday.

Fisch will receive a seven-year, $54.25-million contract, giving him an average annual salary of $7.75 million, according to The Athletic's Bruce Feldman.

Fisch is coming off his best season with the Wildcats, who went 10-3 in 2023, including 7-2 in Pac-12 play. Arizona most recently defeated Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl.

Washington has been looking for a new sideline boss since Kalen DeBoer was hired to succeed Nick Saban at Alabama on Jan. 12. Standout offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb is reportedly following DeBoer after not landing the Washington vacant job.

The Huskies won the Pac-12 and reached the College Football Playoff National Championship game this past season but fell short against Michigan. Several Washington players have entered the transfer portal since DeBoer left the team, including quarterback Will Rogers and second-team All-Pac-12 corner Jabbar Muhammad. Michael Penix Jr. is also going pro.

Fisch has a ton of experience as an assistant in college and the NFL throughout his career. The 47-year-old had a brief experience as UCLA's interim head coach in 2017, posting a 1-1 record. He then spent three seasons in the NFL - including the 2020 campaign as the New England Patriots' quarterbacks coach - before taking the Arizona job.

The Wildcats went 16-21 across three campaigns under the offensive-minded coach's watch. Their offense averaged 34.6 points per game this past season, up from 30.8 in 2022.

Fisch also has ties to Seattle after serving as the Seahawks' QBs coach in 2010.
