Ellis Robinson IV has been committed to Georgia for almost 11 months, but the nation's top-ranked player made it official on Wednesday by signing with the Bulldogs.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback hails from Connecticut but played for IMG Academy in Florida the past two seasons. He chose Georgia over several other top programs including Alabama and Miami.

According to 247 Sports' Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins, Robinson "projects as a potential CB1 for a College Football Playoff regular that can shut down one side of the field." Ivins also tabbed Robinson as a player who could hear his name called on Day 1 of the NFL Draft.

Robinson's addition is part of Kirby Smart's clear commitment to bringing in significant defensive talent after losing many top players to the NFL draft in recent years. Along with Robinson, Georgia currently has signed or holds commitments from two of the nation's top three outside linebackers, two of the top six defensive tackles and the third-ranked safety.
