SMU and Houston played one of the most absurd football games you'll ever see, as the Mustangs defeated the Cougars 77-63 in Dallas on Saturday.

Let's take a closer look and go behind the numbers of this epic clash that set multiple records.

1: Punt in the game, kicked by SMU's Ryan Bujcevski in the third quarter.

7: Touchdown passes that SMU quarterback Tanner Mordecai had at halftime, which had already tied an AAC single-game high. The previous record was set by ... Mordecai in September 2021.

10: Total touchdowns for Mordecai on the evening. The signal-caller went 28-for-37 passing while tossing 379 yards and nine touchdowns. He also scored a TD on the ground in the first half.

2016: The last time a player had accounted for eight touchdowns in a half (Lamar Jackson). Mordecai did it Saturday while becoming the only player in FBS history with seven TD passes and a TD run in a single half.

18: Touchdowns recorded by the two starting quarterbacks. Houston's Clayton Tune also had himself a day, accounting for eight touchdowns, including one rushing. He threw for 527 yards and ran for 111 yards.
