Ohio State head coach Ryan Day addressed the media for the first time since the Buckeyes' 42-27 loss to Michigan, which marked the first Big Ten defeat of Day's tenure.

"We want to finish this thing the right way. We have a really great opponent in Utah in the Rose Bowl. So we want to have a really great month," Day told reporters, including Eleven Warriors' Dan Hope.

On top of missing the Big Ten title game for the first time since 2016, the loss to the Wolverines was also the first time Ohio State fell to its rival since 2011.

"The goal here is to win championships, and we didn't reach that goal," Day said to media members.

"Everybody's hurting from the last game, this is an opportunity to kind of change that feeling a little bit," he added.

After the defeat, the program also lost freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers to the transfer portal - a five-star recruit they had originally flipped from Texas.

Ewers' exit was reportedly a shock to Day, who said it caught him "a little off-guard."

Ranking sixth in the final College Football Playoff rankings, the Buckeyes have guaranteed themselves a spot in a New Year's Six bowl game and will face the Utes in the Rose Bowl.

OSU beat another Pac-12 team in Washington during the team's last Rose Bowl appearance in 2019, winning 28-23.
