Duke, Cutcliffe part ways after 14 seasons

Duke is moving on from head coach David Cutcliffe after 14 seasons, the school announced Sunday.

"We are extremely grateful for David's leadership over the past 14 seasons," athletic director Nina King said. "He lifted our program to unprecedented heights, both on and off the field, while maintaining the core values of the university and we could not be more appreciative of his mentorship of every student-athlete who played for Duke during his tenure."

Cutcliffe took Duke to six bowl games and an ACC title game over his tenure, making the Blue Devils relevant in the conference following decades of insignificance.

The 67-year-old won his final three postseason contests but went 10-25 after capturing the 2018 Independence Bowl, leading to his departure. Duke went 3-9 this season, with its only wins coming against North Carolina A&T, Northwestern, and Kansas.

Cutcliffe produced two NFL first-round draft picks in offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson (2014) and quarterback Daniel Jones (2019).
