The NCAA is investigating Nebraska and head coach Scott Frost for improper use of analysts and consultants during practices and games, sources told The Action Network's Brett McMurphy.

The school has "significant video footage" that shows violations happened in the presence of Frost and other members of his staff, sources told McMurphy.

The NCAA has interviewed Frost, current and former members of his staff, administration members, and Cornhuskers players regarding allegations that date back to last August, according to McMurphy. Frost has reportedly retained legal counsel.

A suspension for Frost could be among the penalties imposed on Nebraska by the NCAA, a source told McMurphy.

Nebraska also moved its strength workouts to an off-campus location last year at the direction of team staff to avoid them being seen by school officials, McMurphy reports, citing sources. The NCAA had barred organized athletic activities at the time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is not known if the NCAA is investigating these allegations.

Cornhuskers athletic director Trev Alberts addressed the reports Wednesday, acknowledging the school has been in contact with the NCAA over an issue regarding the football program. He didn't specify the reason.

"(Nebraska) has been working collaboratively with the NCAA to review a matter concerning our football program," Alberts wrote in a statement obtained by Chris Vannini of The Athletic. "We appreciate the dialogue we have had with the NCAA and cannot comment further on specifics of this matter."

Frost is entering his fourth season with the Cornhuskers but has led them to no more than five wins in each of his three seasons at the helm.
