D'Eriq King will undergo surgery to repair a torn ACL suffered during the Cheez-It Bowl, the school announced Thursday.

A timetable for his return will be determined after the operation, but Miami expects the quarterback to be available for the start of the 2021 fall camp.

King was injured during Tuesday's game against Oklahoma State and was unable to walk under his own power, needing assistance to get to the locker room.

The passer has now completed his first season with the Hurricanes after transferring from Houston in the offseason. King led Miami to an 8-3 record this season while also throwing 23 touchdowns against five interceptions.

King had the option to declare for the 2021 NFL Draft but recently opted to return to the Hurricanes for another year.
