The game was scheduled to be played in SDCCU Stadium in San Diego, but San Diego State announced in September that no more events would be held at the stadium, according to Kirk Kenny of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Holiday Bowl is the fourth bowl to be canceled this year, following the Bahamas Bowl, Redbox Bowl, and Hawaii Bowl. There are now 37 active bowl games remaining.
