Penn State QB Stevens transferring to Mississippi State

Penn State quarterback Tommy Stevens announced on Friday that he will head to Mississippi State as a graduate transfer.

The fifth-year senior was the presumptive favorite to succeed Trace McSorley as the Nittany Lions' starter this season, but was given limited reps during spring practices.

Instead, Stevens will reunite with former Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead, who was named the Bulldogs' head coach last year.

The dual-threat passer is immediately eligible for the 2019 campaign, having already graduated. He'll compete with Keytaon Thompson to replace Nick Fitzgerald.

In limited career action at Penn State, Stevens completed 24 of 41 passes for 334 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. He's also taken 76 carries for 506 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.
