Texas appears to have chosen its starting quarterback for the 2018 season.
Head coach Tom Herman announced on Monday that sophomore Sam Ehlinger will start against Maryland in the team's season opener on Sept. 1 "barring any sort of catastrophe."
Ehlinger started six games and logged three other appearances as a freshman in 2017. He led the Longhorns in both rushing (381 yards) and passing (1,915 yards).
