Tennessee safety Todd Kelly Jr. was hospitalized early Friday after getting into an altercation with his girlfriend that led to him falling from a wall, according to Blake Toppmeyer of USA TODAY, citing an incident report from the Knoxville Police Department.

Police responded to a call Friday morning, during which Kelly's girlfriend, Lauren McDaniel said Kelly started "a minor altercation" at a bar while she'd been talking to a male friend. McDaniel then told police the two returned to Kelly's apartment and subsequently had a verbal altercation, which led to Kelly "punching cabinets, fridge, and busted a glass bottle against a wall in the apartment," and he also "punched a hole in one of the walls," the incident report states.

"During the course of the argument, ... Kelly 'took' McDaniel to the ground. McDaniel stated that she was kind of pushed to the floor, but not thrown," according to the report.

When McDaniel tried to leave the apartment, Kelly reportedly followed her outside and told her "he was going to kill himself." McDaniel told police she heard "a thud" while walking to her car, and saw Kelly at the bottom of a 30-foot retaining wall.

Kelly's roommate, Isaiah Campbell, saw Kelly climb a rail to get on top of the wall before going off the edge, according to the report. There were no arrests made and McDaniel had no visible injuries.

Kelly later announced via Twitter that he's "doing well," and that he fell because his surgically repaired knee "gave out on (him) and resulted in (him) slipping and falling." Kelly missed the bulk of the 2017 season after undergoing season-ending knee surgery on Oct. 3
