College football insider Brett McMurphy reported earlier Saturday that Anderson had been let go. After a school spokesman told Adam Rittenberg of ESPN that Anderson had been placed on leave, the university would later backtrack, asserting he is not on leave and performing the entirety of his duties.
Bobby Blanco of MASNsports says boosters are pushing for former basketball coach Gary Williams to take over.
Anderson has been the Terrapins athletic director since 2010 after coming over from Army.
