Honeymoon over: Harbaugh now 1-4 vs. Michigan's top rivals
Michigan State didn't just rain on Michigan's parade Saturday night, it ended the honeymoon period between Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines' faithful.
For the second time in three years, Harbaugh suffered a devastating upset at the hands of the Spartans, as the Wolverines fell 14-10 on their home field. He's now 1-4 against Michigan State and Ohio State, the Wolverines' two greatest rivals.
Truth be told, Harbaugh is still in search of a signature win two-and-a-half years into his tenure. A triumph over an eighth-ranked Wisconsin squad in 2016 is his lone win in five attempts versus top-10 teams.

Harbaugh returned to his alma mater in 2015 with a reputation for being a quarterback guru. However, the position has only deteriorated with him at the helm, and it continues to hold back what is an otherwise championship caliber team from competing for titles.
John O'Korn looked terrible against the Spartans, throwing three interceptions and completing less than 50 percent of his passes. Wilton Speight looked equally dreadful this season before an injury put him on the shelf.
Brandon Peters or Dylan McCaffrey may be the future savior, but it's hard to comprehend how Michigan's offense under Harbaugh has made such little progress - if any - over such a long period of time.
Harbaugh has fixed many problems since taking over at his alma mater, and he deserves plenty of credit for that. But he's also among the highest-paid coaches in college football. It's, therefore, reasonable to expect results of the highest degree for his program, especially against his top rivals.
Michigan has enjoyed good results under Harbaugh, but great results are just a figment of the imagination at this point.
The marriage between Michigan and Harbaugh isn't in jeopardy. The honeymoon? Now that's a different story.
