Georgia's Patrick arrested on misdemeanor marijuana charge
Georgia Bulldogs starting linebacker Natrez Patrick was arrested Thursday night in Athens, Ga., and charged with misdemeanor possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and prohibited stopping, standing, or parking, according to Mark Schlabach of ESPN, citing Athens-Clarke County Jail records.
Patrick was subsequently released early Friday morning on a $1,500 bond.
The arrest is not the first of its kind for Patrick, as he and former teammate Chauncey Rivers were arrested on misdemeanor marijuana charges in 2015.
According to Seth Emerson of DawgNation, the University of Georgia student-athlete handbook lists a four-game suspension as punishment for a second marijuana violation. If said suspension is handed down to Patrick, head coach Kirby Smart will be forced to look down his depth chart and fill a significant void as Georgia moves through conference play.
The junior sits third on the Bulldogs in tackles with 17 this season, and has appeared as a starter in each of Georgia's first five games.
