Report: Oregon's Herbert out 4-6 weeks with broken collarbone

Oregon's offense was dealt a significant blow, as quarterback Justin Herbert reportedly suffered a broken collarbone during Saturday's 45-24 win over California, according to Bruce Feldman of Sports Illustrated, citing a source.

There was a sliver of good news for Ducks fans, though, as Herbert's injury is to his non-throwing shoulder and he's expected to be out four-to-six weeks, Feldman reported. Given that time frame, Herbert would likely return prior to the end of the regular season.

Backup option Taylor Allie replaced Herbert on Saturday and managed to complete 9-of-13 passes for 41 yards, but also reportedly sustained an injury, causing head coach Willie Taggart to burn the redshirt of freshman pivot Braxton Burmeister, according to Ryan Thorburn of The Register-Guard.

Herbert has been a pivotal part of Oregon's success this season, leading the Ducks to a 4-1 record behind a 68 percent pass completion rating for 1,264 yards and nine touchdowns with only two interceptions.

Oregon also lost star running back Royce Freeman to an apparent shoulder injury in the first quarter Saturday, but no official word has come through on his status.
