Suspended since February, Blanchard transfers from Baylor

Baylor defensive back Travon Blanchard, suspended since February due to an assault allegation against a woman, is transferring out of the program, he announced Saturday.

Blanchard said he's heading to Texas A&M-Commerce, a Division II program, where he'll be a walk-on.

"Travon maintains that he is not guilty of what he has been accused of," his attorney, Michelle Tuegel, told ESPN's Jake Trotter. "The Baylor Title IX process is still ongoing and he will continue to cooperate in that process and looks forward to clearing his name and to his day in court."

Blanchard started 10 games last season and made 11 appearance in total. He made 73 tackles and had one interception. He'll be eligible to play immediately since he's transferring out of the FBS.

"As with any transfer, we thoroughly investigate circumstances and communicate with a wide net," Texas A&M-Commerce stated. "We are confident that Travon walking on to our program this season is a positive step for both him and our program."
