Auburn names Jarrett Stidham starting QB
After months of speculation, Jarrett Stidham is officially Gus Malzahn's go-to guy.
The Auburn head coach officially settled one of the nation's more interesting quarterback battles Monday, announcing Stidham will be the starter when the Tigers open the season against Georgia Southern on Sept. 2.
Stidham had been battling with last year's starter, Sean White, for the top spot on the depth chart.
Malzahn must be very impressed with what Stidham has shown during camp, considering he hasn't played a down of Division I football since November 2015. White, who's still on the roster, posted largely underwhelming numbers last season, so Malzahn appears confident in handing the reins to Stidham in hopes of cashing in on the Baylor transfer's potential.
