Nick Chubb: 'I wouldn't skip a bowl game'

Despite an injury history to be wary of, Georgia running back Nick Chubb fully expects to be on the field for a bowl game at the end of the coming season.

"I wouldn't skip a bowl game," the senior said Tuesday at SEC Media Days, according to Brendan Robertson of WRBL. "That's how I feel about it right now."

Two years ago, Chubb suffered a devastating knee injury that left him with multiple torn ligaments and a long road back to the gridiron. He returned in time for the 2016 season, and rushed for 1,130 yards and eight touchdowns - but on a career-low 5 yards per carry.

Now another year removed from the setback, Chubb is confident he'll return to posting the gaudy numbers he had in 2014 and 2015, when he established himself as one of the nation's top runners and a perennial Heisman Trophy candidate.

"During the (2016) season I thought I was at full speed but it's hard to tell because I didn't know how much better I could get," Chubb said of his health. " ... I know I'm better than I was last year."

With Chubb, fellow running back Sony Michel, and quarterback Jacob Eason all returning, the Bulldogs have plenty to be optimistic about in 2017. A successful season, according to Chubb, would include finishing a four-year sweep of an old SEC rival.

"It'd be great to retire from Georgia by beating Auburn four years in a row," he said.

A few more wins and a run at the SEC championship probably wouldn't hurt, either.
