Watch: Mississippi State ends spring game early after targeting penalty
John David Mercer / USA TODAY Sports
The term friendly fire was used Saturday during Mississippi State's spring game.
Defensive back Johnathan Abram laid a thunderous, albeit illegal, hit on running back Bennie Braswell, after the latter could not secure the quarterback pitch.
Abram, a JUCO transfer, was called for targeting by head coach Dan Mullen, which not only ended his day early, but the whole team's, as the game was ended after Braswell needed help getting off the field.
