Auburn's John Franklin III: Moving to wide receiver

Franklin III worked exclusively at wide receiver in Tuesday's practice session and a full time position switch could be imminent, Brandon Marcello of 247 Sports reports.

Analysis:

The Franklin experiment at quarterback last year did not go as planned after arriving on the Plains as one of the most highly coveted junior college recruits. He appeared in every game but was clearly raw as a passer, completing 14-of-26 passes for 204 yards and one touchdown over the course of the entire season. He did show plenty of promise as an athlete, however, taking 46 rushing attempts for 430 yards (9.35 YPC) and two scores. Franklin will have the duration of spring and fall practice to get acclimated to his new position out wide while Baylor transfer Jarrett Stidham presumably takes over as Auburn's starting quarterback.
