Kansas' Ryan Willis transfers to Virginia Tech
After two seasons at Kansas, quarterback Ryan Willis is transferring to Virginia Tech.
Willis confirmed his move to the ACC program Wednesday evening via Twitter, after it was first reported by Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports.
Willis will come to the Hokies as a walk-on, according to Evan Watkins of 247 Sports, and is expected join the team in time for spring workouts.
Willis threw 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in his career with the Jayhawks. He started for most of the 2015 campaign as a true freshman, but lost the job in 2016.
Virginia Tech is in need of quarterback depth after starter Jerod Evans decided to enter the NFL draft after his one and only season in Blacksburg, but Willis is expected to sit out the 2017 season to satisfy transfer requirements for undergraduate students.
