Ohio State hires Chip Kelly protege Ryan Day as QB coach
Ohio State has hired former San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks coach and Chip Kelly protege Ryan Day to fix its struggling passing game.
The school announced the move in a release on Tuesday, while also confirming the report that co-offensive coordinator Tim Beck has left the program. Multiple outlets have Beck being hired by Texas as its new offensive coordinator
Day has spent the last two seasons coaching under Kelly with the Philadelphia Eagles and 49ers, after spending three seasons as an offensive coordinator with Temple and Boston College.
He has previous experience serving under Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer, as Day was a graduate assistant with Florida in 2005 when Meyer was the Gators frontman.
The hiring of Day will certainly fuel rumors of Kelly being hired by Meyer as the Buckeyes' new offensive coordinator, but that seems to be nothing more than speculation at this point.
