Watch: Oregon prez opens Taggart presser with shot at Helfrich, Hoke

Apparently still disturbed by Oregon's lack of defense this season, school president Michael Schill opened Thursday's introductory press conference of new coach Willie Taggart by taking a shot at his previous staff.

"One bit of advice that probably everybody in the state of Oregon can give him is go find a great defensive coordinator," Schill said.

"Now I've exhausted my knowledge," he concluded, before proceeding with the conference.

Previous coach Mark Helfrich tried to do exactly that last year, when he brought Brady Hoke in to run the defense. The move failed to pay off, however, and both are now seeking employment elsewhere.

It's the second time Oregon has openly criticized the former coaching staff. When announcing Helfrich's firing at the end of November, the Ducks used noticeably specific examples to point out the coach's shortcomings.
