Alabama loses DB Tony Brown for targeting flag
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) Alabama defensive back Tony Brown has been ejected for targeting.
Brown was flagged for a block during a punt return for the top-ranked Crimson Tide late in the first quarter against No. 16 Auburn. Because it was called in the first half, he'll be able to play in the Southeastern Conference championship game against No. 13 Florida next week.
Brown had taken over the starting job at the Star position since Eddie Jackson's injury. Minkah Fitzpatrick moved over to strong safety to replace Jackson, who's out with a broken leg.
Brown is also a key special teams player.
