Report: Fournette 'very doubtful' vs. Missouri due to ankle injury

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

LSU running back Leonard Fournette is "very doubtful" to play Saturday night against Missouri because of an ankle injury, a source told ESPN's Brett McMurphy.

Fournette appeared to re-aggravate his ankle in the fourth quarter last week versus Auburn. He first picked up the injury in training camp, and was forced to sit out LSU's second game of the year, a win over Jacksonville State, after hurting it again in the season opener.

In three games this year, the preseason Heisman Trophy favorite has rushed for 386 yards and two touchdowns.

The Tigers are set to host Missouri in their first game since longtime coach Les Miles was fired.
