Florida State's Fisher: 'I'm not talking about LSU'
The rumors linking Jimbo Fisher to LSU are back, but the Florida State head coach is in no mood to discuss them.
"I'm not talking about LSU," a pointed Fisher told reporters Monday. "We're talking about North Carolina."
The Seminoles face the Tar Heels on Saturday. Fisher, meanwhile, figures to face LSU speculation until the job is filled.
The Tigers fired longtime coach Les Miles on Sunday after 11-plus seasons on the job. Fisher served as LSU's offensive coordinator and quarterback coach from 2000-06, and has long been considered a natural candidate for the position.
Rumblings of a marriage between Fisher and LSU surfaced last season when the Tigers seemed on the verge of canning Miles.
Fisher wasn't the only current coach asked about LSU on Monday. Others to chime in - and deny interest in the position - included:
- Bobby Petrino - Louisville: "I'm not interested in going anywhere. I (feel) very fortunate to be the head coach at Louisville."
- David Shaw - Stanford: "Are you serious? The answer is no."
- Brett Bielema - Arkansas: "I have no interest in being the coach anywhere but Arkansas."
