Ken Starr: 'Coach Briles is an honorable man'

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Former Baylor chancellor Ken Starr touched on Art Briles' ouster during an interview Saturday, coming to the former coach's defense.

"I believe Coach Briles is an honorable man," Starr said at the Texas Tribune Festival, according to ESPN's Mark Schlabach. "Briles has devoted his life to molding the lives of young men. A grave injustice was done to Art Briles ... it's completely unfair."

Baylor fired Briles in May, after an investigation found the school and members of the football program failed in their response to sexual assault allegations. Starr was demoted and would eventually resign from all positions with the school.

"Bad things are going to happen at any university," Starr said. "Coach Briles was never told about quote-unquote 'violence.' I have great confidence to this day in Coach Briles."
