He who laughs last, laughs best.
After Ohio State hammered Oklahoma 45-24, Buckeyes defensive end Jalyn Holmes showed off a sign that read "Basic Defense."
The disparaging term was dropped Wednesday by the Sooners' backup quarterback Austin Kendall in response to what he's seen from Ohio State in the tape room.
The backup signal-caller added, "Baker(Mayfield) will light them up."
It didn't happen. Mayfield finished 17-of-32 for 226 yards, two touchdowns, and two picks, one of which was returned for a touchdown.
The loss all but ends Oklahoma's payoff chances, while THE Ohio State looks like a contender, again.
Lesson learned.
