Alabama's Jalen Hurts: In the mix at quarterback

Hurts remains in the running for the starting quarterback job, as coach Nick Saban has not ruled out the possibility of using the freshman, AL.com reports.

Analysis:

Hurts had the only two touchdown passes in Saturdays scrimmage, but he also tossed two interceptions. He is battling with Cooper Bateman and Blake Barnett for the starting spot. A true freshman has never run the offense at Alabama since Saban arrived, though. Saban has been cryptic about his starter once again heading into the season, but did perhaps foreshadow his thought process. "We'll probably have more freshmen play this year maybe than we've had for a while around here," Saban said. "We feel good about some of them."
