Report: Arizona State QB Perkins considering transfer
Redshirt freshman quarterback Bryce Perkins is considering a transfer out of the Arizona State program, a source told Doug Haller of azcentral sports.
Perkins wasn't with the team on Tuesday after he left Monday's practice with an apparent minor injury.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Chandler, Ariz. native hasn't practiced with the first or second practice teams and appears to be trailing Manny Wilkins and Brady White in the starting quarterback competition. The gap reportedly led the coaching staff to approach Perkins about a possible positional switch to tight end or receiver.
Perkins was a four-star recruit in 2015 and the No. 4 prospect in the state of Arizona. He chose the Sun Devils over UCLA and Northwestern.
Arizona State opens the season Sept. 3 against Northern Arizona.
