An important lesson, whether you play baseball or softball: Keep your head in the game. The UCF softball team learned this the hard way during Sunday's NCAA regional game against Florida.
With two out in the fourth inning, Gators batter Kirsti Merritt took a bases-loaded walk to bring home her team's fourth run of the game. A very alert Kelsey Stewart rounded third, noticed UCF pitcher Jamie Ujvari was not paying attention, and stole home just steps behind Stewart to give Merritt a two-RBI walk before the Knights even knew what had happened.
The No. 1-ranked Gators went on to win the game 8-0, eliminating UCF and advancing to the NCAA super-regional.
