Report: South Carolina to extend Frank Martin
Frank Martin is on the verge of receiving a contract extension to remain head coach at South Carolina long term, a source told David Cloninger of The State.
South Carolina's Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet Friday at 1 p.m., when members will discuss, and presumably approve, a pending contract extension for the coach.
Martin has been with the Gamecocks since the 2012-13 season, and has compiled a 70-62 record in his four seasons at the helm. He has yet to lead South Carolina to the NCAA tournament, though the NCAA admitted Thursday that it accidentally extended an initial invite to the Gamecocks this season before ultimately disappointing Martin's team.
Martin reportedly has two years remaining on his deal, which pays the 50-year-old $2.1 million per season.
