Tom Izzo, Bo Ryan among finalists for Basketball Hall of Fame
Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo was among the finalists for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's 2016 class unveiled Friday during All-Star weekend in Toronto.
Since taking over in 1995, Izzo has led the Spartans to seven Final Four appearances, including one national championship in 2000. Additionally, Izzo is an eight-time National Coach of the Year winner, and has a streak of 18 straight tournament appearances.
Joining Izzo on the list of candidates is former Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan, who stepped down as Badgers boss earlier in the season.
Ryan has an impressive resume himself, winning Big Ten Coach of the Year four times, and taking the Badgers to two Final Fours. He boasts a career winning percentage of .762.
The 2016 inductees will be revealed April 4 during Final Four weekend in Houston.
