Elliot Cadeau, a five-star point guard in the class of 2024, committed to North Carolina on Wednesday, he told Dushawn London of 247Sports.

The 6-foot ball-handler is the highest-ranked recruit on the 2024 ESPN 60 to commit to a school thus far. He's the No. 11 prospect in the class and the second-highest rated point guard behind David Castillo.

"I chose North Carolina because they're a winning program and I would be surrounded by elite players when I get there," Cadeau said.

"I'll be contributing my freshman year as a starter on the team, I'll be playing for a really good coach and a winning program. The coaching staff is a family and when I was there for a visit I knew I really wanted to be a part of that family."

Cadeau currently plays at Link Academy in Branson, Missouri. He turned down interest from Kansas, Louisville, Syracuse, Texas, and Texas Tech, according to Zagsblog's Adam Zagoria and Charlie Parent. He's considering reclassifying to 2023 but is delaying a decision until the spring.

Cadeau said his aim is to progress to the NBA as soon as possible.

"I want to be a one-and-done," he said. "I want to win a national championship and be a lottery pick."

The 18-year-old is the second 2024 recruit to commit to Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels, joining 6-foot-5 wing Drake Powell.
