Report: Rasheed Wallace prime candidate to join Hardaway's staff
Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway is targeting another big name for his coaching staff.
Four-time NBA All-Star Rasheed Wallace has emerged as a prime candidate to join Hardaway as an assistant, sources told NBA insider Marc Stein.
Wallace is currently the bench boss at Charles E. Jordan High School in Durham, North Carolina. He spent the 2013-14 NBA campaign as an assistant with the Detroit Pistons.
Hardaway added Hall of Fame head coach Larry Brown to his staff in July. Wallace played parts of two seasons under Brown in Detroit, including the Pistons' 2003-04 championship run.
Memphis went 20-8 during the 2020-21 campaign, including an 11-4 mark in AAC play. The school failed to make the NCAA Tournament but was victorious in the NIT championship game.
