Tennessee pulled out of the Jimmy V Classic on Dec. 2 in Indianapolis following positive COVID-19 test results in their basketball program Monday, the school announced.
The Volunteers were scheduled to face Gonzaga at the event. The Associated Press' preseason poll ranks the Bulldogs as the country's No. 1 team.
Tennessee announced Monday that Rick Barnes was one of multiple people within the program to test positive, forcing the head coach to follow isolation protocol and the school to suspend all basketball activities. Athletic director Philip Fulmer recently revealed he tested positive but was not deemed to be in close contact with any student-athletes.
