Williams goes on postgame tirade after UNC's latest collapse

North Carolina suffered another huge collapse on Monday, blowing a 15-point lead to Notre Dame to fall 77-76 at Purcell Pavilion.

Irish forward Nate Laszewski hit a go-ahead triple with 1.8 seconds remaining, handing the Tar Heels another gut-wrenching defeat and sending head coach Roy Williams into a postgame tirade.

"You got two choices: You can compete your butt off, or you can get in the fetal position and curl up and start crying," Williams told reporters, including ESPN's Andrea Adelson. "I'm not going to freaking do that. We're going to f---ng - excuse me, I apologize to everybody - we're going to freaking compete.

"That's what we're going to do. We play Saturday. You feel sorry for yourself, and you're going to do that the rest of your freaking life. I apologize. I don't know what I'm doing right now the way I'm cursing."

Just over a week ago, North Carolina missed a number of free throws down the stretch against Duke, allowing their arch-rivals to eventually steal the game in overtime.

On Saturday, Virginia delivered the crushing blow. Cavaliers guard Tomas Woldetensae drilled a 3-pointer with 0.8 seconds remaining in regulation play, sending the Tar Heels faithful home with another bitter defeat.

In January, Williams called this year's North Carolina squad the "least gifted" one he's coached.

With Monday's loss, North Carolina dropped to 3-12 in ACC play and 10-16 overall. For the first time since 2001-02, the Tar Heels will head into the ACC Tournament with a losing record.
