Maryland's Melo Trimble ill, uncertain for Tuesday vs. Rutgers

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

No. 22 Maryland may have to fend off Rutgers without its leading scorer.

Head coach Mark Turgeon confirmed Melo Trimble is currently battling an illness that caused him to miss practice Monday, according to Pat Donohue of Terrapin Sports Report.

"Melo is sick. He did not practice today," Turgeon said. "Hopefully he'll get better and we'll see how he feels tomorrow."

Trimble has yet to miss a game for the Terrapins this season, averaging 17.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 31.4 minutes.

Rutgers sits in the basement of the Big Ten with an overall record of 12-8 and a lone conference victory over seven games, so Maryland may very well be able to hold off the Scarlet Knights if Trimble is forced out of action.
