Texas players Tevin Mack and Kerwin Roach suspended for opener

AUSTIN, Texas - Texas coach Shaka Smart says sophomores Tevin Mack and Kerwin Roach Jr. remain suspended for the No. 21 Longhorns' season-opener Friday against Incarnate Word.
Those players were suspended for last week's exhibition game against Angelo State for an undisclosed violation of team rules during the offseason, but Smart had left open the possibility they could return for the first game.
Smart says both players should return for the second game Nov. 14 against Louisiana-Monroe.
Roach and Mack both played in all 33 games last season and Roach was expected to be the starting point guard after averaging 7.5 points and shooting 45 percent last season. Mack, a small forward, averaged 5.1 points.
