Report: Pelicans using injury exception to sign Tim Frazier to 10-day deal

The New Orleans Pelicans, the most snakebit NBA team this side of Memphis, have been granted an injury exception by the league, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.

According to Stein, the Pelicans will use the exception to sign guard Tim Frazier to a 10-day contract.

The Pelicans are particularly thinned out on the wing, where they've lost Tyreke Evans, Bryce Dejean-Jones, and most recently Eric Gordon to season-ending injuries.

Frazier, who went undrafted out of Pennsylvania State in 2014, played 35 games with the Portland Trail Blazers this season. He averaged 1.5 points on 33.3 percent shooting in 7.8 minutes per game before being waived in February.

He's since played eight games with the D-League's Maine Red Claws, thriving against the diminished competition. He's averaged a near triple-double of 15 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 9.6 assists, while shooting 55.7 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc.

The Red Claws have won seven of the eight games he's played.
